Don’t Judge Someone Until You’ve Walked in Their Shoes

Everyone, everywhere has their own limitations, set-backs and circumstances. Lucky for us, there are plenty of amazing programs to aid and support those who find themselves in a rough patch. We recently came across one that we just had to share: Shoe Away Hunger.

Shoe Away Hunger is a hunger relief campaign of Good In’ the Hood. The program collects new or gently used shoes. They sell kids shoes for $2.00 and adult shoes for $5.00. For every pair of gently used shoes equals 7 days of essential groceries for a family in need.

This is an eco-friendly hunger relief program. Just think of all the shoes that are not going into landfills and being reused.

My friend Lis was telling someone about the shoe bus and that person said to Lis “that’s for poor people.” When I heard this, the hairs on the back of my neck went up. Just because someone is less fortunate than you, don’t call them poor. What is that saying? Don’t judge someone until you have walked in their shoes. How true. By making this statement this person was being very judgmental and shaming. Enough on that. Let’s move back to this wonderful program.

This program is open to anyone who wants to use it. The Shoe Bus was in Eagan last week and you would not believe how many people were going to the Shoe Bus.

You can support Shoe Away Hunger in the following ways:

  1. Donate shoes.
  2. Host a shoe drive.
  3. Volunteer
  4. Shop on the shoe bus

If you would like more information about this program you can go to www.shoeawayhunger.com.

Above are the shoes that I found at the Shoe Bus, and I am not too proud to admit it.

Please share this information with your friends and family to help support this great program.
